<br />DIRECTIVE NUMBER: <br />401.06.03.020 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Training for <br />Correctional Officers <br /> <br />PAGE NUMBER: <br />2 of 2 <br /> <br />05.00.00. PROCEDURE <br /> <br />The Facility Health Authority shall cooperate with the Department’s Training Manager to <br />provide training for all employees to respond to health related situations comparable to <br />those defined by the American Red Cross and the NCCHC. The training shall include, <br />but is not limited to, an awareness of potential emergency situations, response to life <br />threatening conditions and responsibility for the early detection of illness or injury. <br /> <br />It is essential that the first aid training course for employees include certified courses in <br />coronary pulmonary resuscitation and first aid, with in-service training to maintain <br />certification as recommended by standards or state regulation. <br /> <br />The acceptable standard is 75% or more of the staff on each shift be trained at <br />least every two years in one of the areas addressed by the Standards. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />___________________________________________ _____________________ <br />Administrator, Institutional Services Division Date
