POLICY OF THE DEPARTMENT <br />Each institution and facility shall maintain high safety and sanitary standards and <br />practices in accordance with departmental regulations. <br />02.00.00. PROCEDURE <br />The Administrator of an institution or facility must establish rules for the safekeeping of <br />all materials that might threaten the welfare of the institutional community as hazards to <br />either safety or security. These potentially harmful materials include medical supplies <br />and equipment, foodstuffs, food equipment, industrial equipment and any other items <br />pertinent to operation of the institution or facility. <br />The Administrator shall establish sanitary practices and procedures that provide <br />institutional personnel and inmates with a clean and odorless environment. <br />Department officials shall evaluate the safety and sanitary practices of each institution <br />or facility in conjunction with their security inspections.
