Volunteer Recognition Events .................................................................................13 <br />Definitions ...........................................................................................................................13 <br />References ..........................................................................................................................13 <br /> <br />BOARD OF CORRECTION IDAPA RULE NUMBER 606 <br />Volunteer Services <br />POLICY CONTROL NUMBER 606 <br />Volunteer Service Programs and Volunteers <br />PURPOSE <br />The purpose of this standard operating procedure (SOP) is to provide guidance regarding <br />volunteer services in correctional facilities and to establish procedures to select, recruit, <br />approve, train, and manage volunteers and the services they provide. <br />RESPONSIBILITY <br />Prisons Division Chief <br />The Prisons Division chief is responsible for: <br />• Ensuring that facility heads and other staff involved with volunteer services <br />implement this SOP <br />Prisons Division Volunteer and Religious Activity Coordinator (VRC) <br />The Prisons Division VRC is responsible for: <br />• Overseeing the volunteer services program in IDOC facilities <br />• Collaborating with the Prisons and Probation and Parole deputy chiefs regarding <br />volunteer services <br />• Developing and overseeing the delivery of volunteer training. <br />Facility Heads <br />Facility heads are responsible for: <br />• Implementing this SOP <br />• Ensuring staff members and volunteers follow the procedures, guidelines, and <br />instructions contained herein <br />• Designating staff members to serve as the VRC at their respective facilities if <br />someone has not been contracted to be the VRC. <br />Facility VRC <br />The Facility VRC is responsible for: <br />• Coordinating and overseeing volunteer activities in facilities <br />• Recruiting religious volunteers if the need arises
