Control Number: <br />202.07.01.001 <br />Version: <br />2.0 <br />Title: <br />Compensation <br /> <br />Page Number: <br />7 of 10 <br /> <br />Idaho Department of Correction <br />IDOC Data Sensitivity Classification - L3 Restricted <br />Appointment from Layoff Register <br />When an employee is appointed from a layoff register, their rate of pay shall be their last <br />rate of pay when they previously held that position and any change in employee <br />compensation (CEC) awarded. <br />When an employee is appointed from a layoff register to a different position in a lower <br />pay grade, the wage will be set based upon voluntary demotion guidelines. <br />Return from Military Duty <br />An employee who returns from active military duty will be paid at the comparable rate in the <br />current pay grade to which they were assigned prior to leaving for military. They will also be <br />eligible for any CEC awarded while out on official military leave. (Idaho Code Section 65- <br />508, and USERRA) <br />8. Salary Decreases <br />An employee’s salary may be decreased when moving to a lower pay grade or a disciplinary <br />action. <br />Voluntary Demotion <br />If the incumbent has held the position previously the salary will be calculated based <br />upon the previous salary in the position and any non-class specific CEC’s, that the <br />employee received or 71% of policy, whichever is greater. <br />If the incumbent has not held a position in the same pay grade as the lower level <br />position, the salary rate will be calculated based upon 71% of policy for that pay grade <br />and any CEC’s that they have received. <br />Demotion in Lieu of Layoff <br />An employee with permanent status, may, in lieu of layoff, elect voluntary demotion to a <br />class, or if the classification has been deleted, its successor in which the employee held <br />permanent status. <br />Pay rate would be established through the same calculations as a voluntary demotion. <br />Disciplinary Salary Reduction <br />A temporary disciplinary salary reduction shall be utilized to equate to a certain number <br />of days without pay. In these instances, the salary reduction is limited to a total dollar <br />amount which equates to days off without pay. <br />Disciplinary Salary Suspension <br />Employees may be suspended without pay for disciplinary reasons for a set period of <br />time. An employee may be suspended up to a total of 30 days. <br />Disciplinary Demotions <br />An employee may receive a demotion for disciplinary reasons. The salary rate will be <br />determined the same as a voluntary demotion. <br />Failure to Complete Promotional Probation Period <br />Employees who fail to complete the promotional probation will revert to their previous <br />salary in which they held permanent status.
